Our ethos

Comfort grounded in the land

Amelia Kutloano was founded on the principle that sleeping outdoors should be comfortable and grounded. Each stay is designed to sit quietly within its surroundings, so that the South African landscape, its light, and its textures shape the experience rather than competing with it.

Low-impact living guides every decision on the camp, from the placement of each shelter to the choice of materials. Care is taken to work in harmony with regional flora and topography, leaving the land as it was found.

Materials and craft

Built from canvas, stone, and timber

Each shelter is constructed with breathable canvas, local stone, and treated timber, chosen for how they age and how they feel underfoot and under the hand. Joinery is made locally, and linen is chosen for softness and simplicity.
